A rare pamphlet regarding the dedication of the Camp Release Monument commemorating the surrender that concluded the Dakota Uprising of 1862. An image of the monument adorns the rear cover. The work includes addresses by General C.C. Andrews who served as chairman of the monument committee, Governor Alexander Ramsay, and others. While some of the speakers praised the Dakota who opposed violence, speaker Edward J. Hodgson repeated the quote oft attributed to General Philip Sheridan that "the only good indians are dead indians." We locate a single holding in OCLC, at the Minnesota Historical Society.
