A collection of fifteen poems by Penobscot poets, seemingly unpublished. All three identified authors are from the Penobscot Nation on Indian Island in Maine. The first five pieces are attributed to William W. McDougall. Red Hawk is credited with six of the poems, including one which is dated 1981. A single work is authored by Rene Attean, a "Woman of the Squirrel Clan"; three are unattributed. Carol Dana, writing under the name Red Hawk, is a respected Penobscot poet in Maine and the author of one volume of poetry, When No One Is Looking. Her work also appears in DawnLand Voices: Indigenous Writings from New England.
