Circular to Ministers of the Gospel, Managers of Auxiliary Societies, and Other Friends of the Missionary Cause... [caption title]

New York: January 8, 1823. [2]pp., printed on both rectos of a single folded sheet, addressed in ink on verso of integral leaf. Original mailing folds, light foxing. Small marginal hole in second leaf from removal of wax seal, just touching one word. Very good. Item #5890

An unrecorded circular letter issued by the United Foreign Missionary Society in 1823, reporting on their activities and future efforts to further their reach. Chief among the latter is a renewed effort to achieve a "wider diffusion of information on missionary topics and events" by expanding the content and reach of their own publication, the American Missionary Register, by issuing it "monthly, in number of 32 pages each, and neatly executed, at the reduced price of one dollar and fifty cents per annum." Much of the circular concerns their push for subscriptions for the publication, and concludes with an additional call for donations. The organization also reports that they "now occupy five Missionary Stations among the Heathen tribes within the boundaries of our country." The second leaf is a de facto prospectus for the New Series of the American Missionary Register, listing the four terms of subscription, a notice on disbursement of the publication to auxiliary societies, and other information regarding the publication.
