D. Santos Degollado Considerando Como Gobernador de Jalisco, y Como General en Jefe de las Fuerzas Que Sitiaron a Guadalajara
Guadalajara: Tip. de Gob., a Cargo de Luis P. Vidaurri, 1859. 84pp. Disbound. Light dust soiling and toning. Very good. Item #5323
A stinging, but apparently unrecorded, attack on Santos Degollado, a major leader of the Liberal forces during the Reform War in Mexico. His record in battle was so poor that he became known as the "Apostle of Defeats." Nevertheless, he went on to a brief political career after the Liberals regained power, but was killed by a Conservative ambush in 1861. Here, the anonymous author denounces every aspect of the Liberal cause but focuses on its anticlericism and Degollado's speeches and attempted actions against the church. Not in OCLC.
