Scarce pamphlet boosting the construction of the Constancia Dam near San Luis Potosi in the early 1860s, by the engineer in charge of the project, José M. Siliceo. The dam across the Rio Santiago had been proposed for over forty when construction began in 1863. Here Siliceo touts the benefits of the project for residents and business owners in San Luis Potosi and the surrounding area, before turning to a detailed discussion of the dam's capacity and capabilities. An appendix contains an article by Siliceo for a local newspaper that synthesis many of these arguments. Of surpassing interest ate two folding lithograph plates, the first of which delineates the extent of the lake that will be created by the dam and the second which shows the span from the river bed and a cross section. Seventy years after the present publication, the Constancia Dam burst, totally flooding San Luis Potosi and killing hundreds. OCLC notes one copy, at Berkeley.
