Veracruz: Reimpresa en la Imprenta de F. Mendarte, 1834. 30pp. Stitched, as issued; original rear printed wrapper present, lacking front. Light staining and tanning. Good. Item #5239
An interesting treatise written in support of a federal system of government in Mexico. According to the introduction, the work was first written and published by "un ilustre Zacatecano" in 1824, when the first Mexican constitution was being crafted. The principal argument compares the growth of Mexico and the United States, and the success of the federal system in the republic to the north. The present edition of the work was republished in Veracruz in 1834 during the ultimately successful attempts of Santa Anna and his supporters to establish a centralized Mexican government. OCLC locates only two copies of this edition, at Texas A&M and the BNM, and no copies of the supposed first edition of the present work under this title.
