An unrecorded promotional pamphlet advocating for settlement of Fort Smith, Arkansas and the surrounding areas in western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma. The text begins: "Western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma boast of the most diversified climate in the Union. The Ozark Mountains furnish protection to the rich Valleys from winter's chilly wind, and the gulf breezes, fanning her broad area, eliminate the heat of summer." The agricultural advantages of the area are also stressed: "Cotton is grown all over the section and forms the chief crop. The planters for the year of 1909 will receive over seventy five million dollars from its production. Value of crop $30 to $180 per acre to the farmers." This text is followed by a list of forty-five crops fit for growing in the region, including cotton, corn, alfalfa, timothy, sorghum, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, muskmelons, watermelons, and peaches, along with various berries, nuts, and more. The remainder of the text includes passages on the "Demonstrated Possibilities in the Fort Smith District," and detailed sections on the climate and soil. The pamphlet was issued by the Commercial League of Fort Smith, Arkansas. No copies in OCLC.
