Striking photograph depicting soldiers on the parade ground in the Fortaleza de Santo Domingo. The left side shows men positioned around cannons, while the right side shows them at attention next to their artillery boxes. The fort dates to Spanish colonial times, and was used as a prison in the 18th and 19th centuries into the 20th, when it became a public building in 1965. It is currently designated as a UNESCO heritage site. Interestingly, there are telegraph poles in the background, showing the modernization of the space at the turn of the century.
