A series of twelve didactic letters written to "dear sister" outlining the various important types of education for women. These include moral, artistic, religious, and domestic, as well as the importance of woman's influence on family and society. The author is not identified, noted only as an "American Woman." We find several other editions, the first of which seems to have been published in London in 1823 (also in Spanish); subsequently published in Havana in 1829, followed by this Mexican edition in 1851. Later editions appeared in Paris and Havana, all printed in Spanish. We locate one copy of this edition in OCLC, at UC Berkeley.
