Chicago: Poole Brothers, [ca. 1883-1884]. Folding pamphlet with panels. Some wear and small separations along folds. Light tanning and scattered light dampstaining. A couple of small tape repairs. Good plus. Item #322
Scarce folding pamphlet published on behalf of the Atchison, Topeka, & Santa Fe Railroad, promoting their land grants along their rail lines through Kansas. The recto contains detailed statements on agricultural production of various crops in the state, as well as the potential for stock raising, fruit growing, and dairy farming. It goes on to discuss the expansion of irrigation across the state and the current trends in immigration to Kansas. The verso prints two maps, the larger of which shows the railroad's lines through Kansas and the extent of the available land on the railroad grant. The smaller map shows available connections to the West Coast and to Mexico. An attractive dual-purpose advertisement. OCLC locates seven copies.
