A contemporary manuscript copy of the original state constitution for Mexico (the state surrounding Mexico City, not the country itself), published in February 1827. The federal constitution of Mexico was established in 1824, following the collapse of the short-lived first Mexican Empire under Augustin Iturbide. Each state was then responsible for its own constitutional document. The present manuscript copy does not include the prefatory matter that appears in the published form, though the brief introductory information does appear ahead of the articles. An interesting artifact from the founding years of Mexican independence.
