A multifaceted record compiled by Joseph Coleman Saltar of his early 20th-century voyage to Europe. Saltar, along with several other members of his family, accompanied his father on a work trip to Mülheim, across the Rhine from Cologne. While his father was engaged at a local factory works, Salters visited Cologne and several other nearby towns on the Rhine, such as Stammheim and Bonn. Materials collected here include a series of letters to Saltar's wife Hattie, his daily diary of the experience, menus and other ephemera from the ocean liners that he was aboard, and a photo album with original images of they voyage to Europe and of Mülheim, Cologne, and the surrounding region.
