An early Missouri imprint, and the first medical book published west of the Mississippi River. Noted as the revised edition, though no copies of any earlier editions are located. Sappington was a Missouri physician who was noted for having invented a quinine pill for the treatment of malarial fevers. This work was published in Sappington’s hometown of Arrow Rock.
