[Salem: ca. 1890]. [14]pp. Folio. Self-wrappers, stitched as issued. Light wear and soiling, some light creasing. Very good. Item #1941

Handsome pictorial promotional for Salem, Oregon, in the Willamette Valley, "universally acknowledged to be the most productive and most beautiful valley between Mexico and British Columbia". The work touches on public buildings such as the Indian Training School, the insane asylum, Willamette University, and the state capitol, as well as the burgeoning fruit industry. The promoters emphasize the climate, the ease of transit, and the importance of the region in the growing country. The bulk of the pamphlet is comprised of lithographs depicting street scenes and important residences in Salem: the opera house, Chemekete Hotel, Comercial Street, the insane asylum, and others. We locate no copies in OCLC.

Price: $350.00
