First and only edition of this scarce street guide to San Francisco compiled by the city assessor John Ginty in 1914. The work contains a large folding map titled, "Map of the City and County of San Francisco, Revised and Corrected from Fresh Field Maps of the Assessor's Office under Supervision of John Ginty...," with a block-by-block rendering of the city, with each block identified by number. The majority of the text comprises a convoluted street index of the city, with the start and end point of each and the streets which they run across identified by these numbers. Also present are a directory of hotels and apartment buildings; a brief guide to streetcar routes; and an index for locations of parks, municipal buildings, and other public services. We locate only three copies, at Berkeley, the California State Library, and the California Historical Society. Rare, and a very good copy.
