Only edition of this scarce Bay Area directory, published by the San Francisco Examiner in 1919. The work lists San Francisco, Oakland, and East Bay office buildings, fronted by brief descriptions of each city or region, and provides extensive information about postal rates and mail regulations. The preponderance of the publication is occupied by the directory, once again divided by region, which runs the gamut from asbestos installers to yeast manufacturers, with Christian Science practitioners and sausage makers in between, with several lined leaves for annotations at the rear. This appears to be a test run of the publication, with all advertising spaces either blank or filled with promotions for the Examiner, and the paper apparently did not see fit to continue their efforts beyond this edition. We locate just one other example of the very scarce and slightly odd directory, at the Sutro Library.
