By early Grand Canyon guide William Wallace Bass, the namesake of Bass Canyon and North and South Bass trails. Illustrated with reproduction photographs and facsimiles, this work tells the story of early Canyon explorers James White and W.W. Hawkins. Bass notes that White was the first man to pass through the Canyons of the Colorado River, several months before Powell even began his expedition. A wonderful piece of history, published in a limited number by the author. Scarce in commerce.
